In order for us to be able to show a direct link between our digipak and our music video we had to focus on the albums by Imagine Dragons as this way we would be able to emulate the techniques, colourings etc, that were relatable with Imagine Dragons and hence creating an authentic looking digipak.
With the two albums Imagine Dragons that have been released I found that despite them appearing rather simplistic they both are in the same way complex with various intricate patterns being included throughout. I also noticed that both albums incorporate very dark and gloomy colours which relates very much to the genre of Alternative rock. The final feature I noticed was that neither album includes the band on the front and so I will make sure that the front image is completely separate from the band once I begin construction.
Both CD's have the song track listed on the back both simply and plainly, as well as this both sets of track lists go down the page vertically and so I will make sure that I keep that in mind when making the album cover. The main feature with the back of the CD is that the focal point is the actual track list as there isn't really anything on the back other than the actual list and so when I begin constructing the digipak I will ensure that I keep the back of the CD very minimalistic in order to divert the attention straight to the track list.
Both of their albums include their name "Imagine Dragons" on the front in a specialised font used specifically for them and so when creating the album I will have to bare that in mind and try to incorporate this in order to create an authentic looking digipak.
In terms of colour schemes I noticed that both album covers as I already pointed out use dark and gloomy colours to enhance the link between the album and the genre of music that it is associated with. In both of the albums the use of white on black and white on the darker navy as seen in the album "Night Visions" are used to make the writing stand out and make the reader automatically notice the key information and so when constructing the digipak I will have to bare this in mind
Digipak Research

Shown above are both of the albums released by Imagine Dragons, and by looking at both the front and back of these covers I now have some inspiration going forward with the construction of the digipak.
Digipaks have their pros and cons and here are some examples;
· Digipaks can be more environmentally friendly as opposed to alternatives such as jewel cases as digipaks can be made from card or recycled paper, however it is very rare that they are made in this way.
· In terms of aesthetics it can be said that digipaks provide more options with the design aspect as there are sleeves inside which would allow us to be a bit more creative during the construction process.
· However they can be quite expensive to make if you use a three section digipak as opposed to jewel cases which are much more simplistic.
· The trays in digipaks are much more fragile and susceptible to snaps or cracks forming
